Welcome to Redding!
California's Natural Getaway
Over 500 miles of scenic byways and one of California's two All American Roads connect Redding to regional attractions like Mt. Shasta, Burney Falls, Lassen Volcanic National Park, and the magnificent Trinity Alps. Redding is home to abundant lodging choices, quality restaurants, great shopping, and a nationally recognized trail system highlighted by the world-famous and very unique Sundial Bridge--a not-to-be-missed California icon. These amenities, coupled with local features like the Turtle Bay Museum, Cascade Theater, Whiskeytown Lake, and Shasta State Historic Park, make Redding the perfect base camp for exploring far northern California.

The Sundial Bridge in Redding is the largest sundial,
that is a bridge, in the world!
Shasta Lake is known as the "Houseboat Capitol of the
World" with the largest commercial houseboat fleet in the world.
The Sacramento River
is California's longest river, beginning near Mt. Shasta and flowing into the San Francisco
Bay.
The 1855 "Battle of Castle Crags" between the Wintu Indians and miners took place at
the northwest end of the ancient,
glacier formed spires of Castle Crags State Park between what is now known as Battle Rock and
Castle Lake. This battle was one of several triggers for the Modoc War (1872-73).
Mt.
Shasta is California's tallest volcano at 14,160 ft. and pre-dates the last ice
age.
